One day · Eight segments
A one-day relay of eight segments to raise money, awareness and support for Mile in My Shoes.
A loop through all of the Mile in My Shoes team locations in support of the MiMS Give to the Max campaign. All runners are welcome for one, two or as many segments as you want to run.
Not feeling like running? There are plenty of other ways to support. To run or lend support, check out the rest of the site and then fill out the interest form.
All times are estimates; on-course contacts will be shared on the day. Join any segment, or come cheer at a handoff point.
It started as a wild idea between two then-board members, Joe Rauch and Andy Morgan: run a loop between all of the MiMS teams, in one day, to bring awareness to the MiMS Give to the Max campaign. Folks were invited to join, and a few came out and ran in the cold and the snow. We agreed it was just too much fun to keep to a few folks. Since then it has gotten a little bigger and a little more organized each year.
Every dollar goes to Mile in My Shoes, which partners with homeless shelters, substance-use recovery programs and reentry centers to build running communities. Donations put Resident Members in running gear, cover their race entries and milestone incentives, and support workshops and ongoing programming. For example:
More than 1,000 people have run their first mile with MiMS, and over 600 have finished a 5K. See more on the MiMS donate page.
Absolutely! You can run as many segments as you feel up to.
No! Come out for one, two or as many as you want.
Anyplace along the course. The routes and estimated start and finish times are listed above. Drive by and honk, stop and cheer, throw money at us—any and all support is welcome.
Define bad? We’re from Minnesota. There’s no such thing as bad weather if you’re dressed properly. The first year Joe and I did this, it was at or below freezing all day, snowed off and on, and our water bottles froze—and we still finished. Last year we ran in singlets and shorts. Unless there’s lightning or it’s dangerously cold, we will run.
Sort of. Support vehicles go ahead of us and set up at each handoff point, and mid-segment on the longer segments. They’ll have water and snacks, but we suggest you prepare as if you were doing a long run. The support vehicles can carry stuff for you so you don’t have to carry all of it.
In a pinch, we have folks who will get you where you need to go. We also ask that you coordinate with fellow runners who aren’t doing the full route—we’ll have a spreadsheet available to help.
Every dollar supports Mile in My Shoes' running community for people rebuilding their lives.
